To celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21st and National Indigenous History Month in June, KNAER is holding a book giveaway (with the accompanying Learning Guide) on Twitter!

Spirit Bear and Children Make History is written by Cindy Blackstock and Eddy Robinson, and illustrated by Amanda Strong. This book tells the true story of how children stood up for the rights of First Nations children in Canada and can be useful in helping educators teach about human rights issues that First Nations children face in Canada.

nWe are pleased to announce that a learning guide was just developed and released by the First Nation's Child & Family Caring Society of Canada, a partner of Réseau de Savoir sur l’Équité | Equity Knowledge Network (RSEKN), and Ottawa Teachers for Social Justice. The guide is designed to support families, educators, and communities in using Spirit Bear’s book to teach about equity, reconciliation, and how kids can make a difference. If you have a copy of the book already, this free guide can be found in our Educational Resources. We will also package a physical copy of this Spirit Bear Learning Guide together with a copy of the book for our giveaway!
